The International Atomic Energy Commission (IAEA) awarded WSC two separate contracts to provide GPWR simulators with a VVER-1000 nuclear power plant design for use by the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency.

 The Generic VVER-1000 Simulators will be used as training tools to teach students the basic reactions/behaviors under normal and abnormal operating conditions. The simulators will cover the full range of plant operations from Cold Shutdown, Hot Standby, Criticality, and Hot Zero Power through Full Power. The generic simulators will include a generic Human Machine Interface (HMI) based on a modern Distributed Control System (DCS) architecture that provides user-friendly navigation through the plant systems and controls, which all new 3rd generation nuclear power plants employ this DCS-based technology. The HMI utilizes P&IDs providing intuitive plant controls that are not available through conventional hard panel controls. This provides the user with the ability to easily maneuver through the systems and control screens eliminating the need to spend time learning instrument locations on traditional panels.
WSC is also providing a set of Intelligent Tutoring System Lesson Plans, which will allow students to use the simulator without the aid of an instructor.
